A LETTER FROM THE SECRETARY-GENERAL:

Dear delegates, sponsors, parents, and FIMUN attendees,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 38th iteration of the Florida International Model United Nations Conference (FIMUN). We cannot wait to welcome you all to the sunny city of Miami on March 20th-22nd and host you at our FIU Modesto A. Maidique Campus.

We have been working hard to curate an experience that is smooth, knowledgeable, and fun for all our FIMUN attendees. Each year, our conference grows larger and larger, now hosting over 800 delegates. That’s why we've had to expand our committees with your demand! Our 15 electrifying General Assembly, Specialized, and Crisis committees were made with you, the delegates, in mind. From our first ever GADHOC to specialized mechanics that test the mold of traditional Model UN, each committee is a thrilling experience you can’t miss out on.

This year’s theme, “Hope through Hardship,” is more important than ever before. In a world that can often seem bleak and hopeless, how can we persevere? There is no clear answer, however I believe that through FIMUN, delegates will discover it for themselves. In the loud moments of passionate debate, or in the quiet moments of newborn friendships and memories with students all over the US, it’s my hope you can see humanity rise above the injustices we see all around us today, and that you allow hope to bring peace for all.

If there are any questions or issues you come across before, during, or even after FIMUN, I am happy to talk at my email or even in-person at FIMUN! As Secretary-General, it is the job of myself alongside the entire FIMUN staffing team to serve you always.

See you soon, delegates,

Angie Zuleta

A LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL:

Dear delegates, sponsors, and goats,

Good morning, good evening, and goodnight to all of you! My name is Ken, and I have the most auspticious honor to serve as your Director-General of FIMUN 38!

Before you begin, I’d like to take a moment for you to get to know me, one of the masterminds behind the experience that is FIMUN. I began Model UN back in middle school, attending my first ever FIMUN before I was even a high school delegate. I continued throughout my time in High School, even Gaveling my last ever FIMUN with my dual delegate partner, Natalie, who now directs the GAd-Hoc. Also in high school, I ran my very first conference, TrojanMUN, as Secretary-General my senior year. After high school, I came to FIU and quickly joined the Model UN, gaveling my first conference and joining the leadership team at FIU MUN as, you gussed it, your FIMUN Director-General.

Outside of MUN, however, I have a lot of hobbies. Most of them are physical – going on walks, runs, execise, swimming, playing tennis, or watching any combination of tennis, rugby, or football. But outside of sports, I really love spending time with my friends and traveling.

Whether you’re here to win awards, make friends, or just live your best diplomat life, I hope you love this conference as much as I do. Because I really love it. It was one of my first conferences, and my last High School conference. FIMUN 38 is amazing. Like, Wikipedia-cited, peer-reviewed, universally accepted based.

So get ready. It's time to write a crisis note. It’s time to pass resolutions. It’s time to accidentally start international incidents in committee. Let’s rewrite history!
