Topic Summary
Not all battles make headlines. Some begin in forgotten rooms, on maps that no longer match the world outside. Memory clashes with authority, and silence is often louder than any declaration. As a General Assembly Ad-Hoc committee, the topic will remain unknown until shortly before the conference begins, challenging you to think quickly and navigate uncertainty. In this committee, truth may feel like a shifting thing, shaped by who speaks it, and who is allowed to listen. You will not know what you’re walking into until the doors close behind you. All that’s certain is this: the question is older than you think, and the answer may not be yours to give.
The topic and background guide for this committee will not be released until the day before FIMUN 38. Experienced delegates are encouraged to participate in this GA committee.
No position papers are required.

Director: Natalie Alguera
Natalie Alguera is a second-year student at FIU’s Honors College, studying Business Administration and Management on the pre-law track. She began participating in Model UN in high school and has been an active member of FIU MUN since her first semester, with her awards contributing to the program’s #3 ranking in North America. During her first year on the collegiate circuit, she traveled nationwide, placing in both GA and crisis committees and earning a gavel. At last year’s FIMUN, Natalie chaired the São Paulo Forum and has also volunteered on the dais at several South Florida conferences. She now contributes to the team’s leadership as Co-Social Chair. Beyond MUN, she is a Civic Circle Fellow at FIU’s Adam Smith Center and a member of Phi Alpha Delta, FIU’s pre-law fraternity. Natalie enjoys traveling (visiting 13 countries in six years) as well as dancing, attending concerts, dining out, and spending time with loved ones. She’s excited to direct this Gad-Hoc and share her energy with you all.

Chair: Ethan Artz
Ethan Artz is a first-year student at Florida International University, pursuing a degree in Political Science while on the Pre-Law track. Ethan started Model United Nations in his freshman year of high school, with his most memorable conference being YMUN LII at Yale University. In high school, Ethan was president of the thespian troupe being in a total of 11 productions over four years. Nowadays he finds most interest in listening to music, going to concerts, travelling the world, and consuming media in general (whether that be through YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok). He is very very VERY excited to be chairing the first ever GADHOC in FIMUN history and is thrilled to see how delegates adapt to the committee.
