FIU Model UN team wins Best Large Delegation in Boston

FIU’s nationally ranked Model UN team has received another top distinction – being named Best Large Delegation during the highly competitive Boston Area Model United Nations Conference (BarMUN) hosted by Boston University.

“This is the first time FIU has ever won a Best Large Delegation award when competing head-to-head against the other top five schools,’’ said Program Director Kristen Nyman. “With the talent and tenacity this team has displayed, I am very confident that there are many more victories like this in FIU's future.”

In a competition of about 30 schools - including several Ivy League universities like Princeton and Brown - FIU received more points than any other delegation, Nyman said. FIU MUN is currently ranked fourth in North America, behind the University of Pennsylvania, Georgetown University and Harvard.

“This was a great first step to show the country that we're coming for number one!” said Kevin Markowski, FIU MUN’s student assistant program director, who received a 1st place award for Best Delegate. “I am so proud of our head delegates for leading this team by example.”
