FIU's Model UN team has won Best Large Delegation at Harvard University's Model United Nations competition. This is the most competitive Model UN simulation in the world. Congratulations to our students and our program director, Michelle Rosario!
FIU put in one of its best performances ever to reclaim their title as the #2 ranked team on the circuit, an accomplishment they’ve only had one other time in the fall semester. FIU’s largest success of the semester was their performance at NCSC, where they won the Best Large Delegation award for the first time there over large delegation rivals UChicago, UPenn, and Harvard.
FIU’s Model UN team went on the trip of a lifetime to build a stronger relationship with Tel Aviv University’s Model UN team. The diverse group of students – of different religious affiliation and nationalities –were able to explore and learn more about Jerusalem, Masada and the Dead Sea and were able to break bread with the leaders of their Israeli Model UN counterparts.
FIU Model UN has been the top team in Florida and the top of any public university in the United States for more than a decade. This year, however, FIU Model UN took it up a notch and made history. Not only did the team receive more awards – 120 individual and nine team – than any other delegation in North America, FIU Model UN nabbed the No. 1 team ranking for the first time in the program’s 31-year history.
