Topic Summary
Topic A: Addressing Climate Change
Topic B: Addressing Food Insecurity
Established in 2001 as the successor to the Organization of African Unity, the African Union stands as the continent's principal body for political cooperation and sustainable development. Representing one of the 55 member states, delegates must follow its mandate to research and develop continent-wide solutions to shared challenges faced by the continent.
Across Africa, climate change is no longer a distant concern but a present reality. Rising temperatures, droughts, and flooding are all placing extreme pressure on agriculture, threatening the livelihoods and food supplies across the continent. At the same time, millions continue to experience hunger and malnutrition despite Africa’s enormous agricultural potential. The contradiction of abundance and scarcity is the core of the challenge delegates must face. Working in pairs (duos), delegates will be tasked with coming up with practical policies that promote climate adaptation, economic development, long-term food security, and, above all securing the continent for future generations.
This is a dual delegate committee.
