Topic Summary

"To protect the world from devastation! To unite all peoples within our nation! To denounce the evils of truth and love! To extend our reach to the stars above!" - Team Rocket, September 9, 1998.

The Aether Foundation, a once praised research corporation is now under heavy fire for an experiment gone wrong. This experiment unintentionally opened Ultra Wormholes, gateways to Ultra Space, all over the world of Pokemon. These wormholes provide passage for strange and dangerous Pokemon known as Ultra Beasts, who are now terrorizing every region across the world. In addition to this ongoing threat, a bigger issue lies dormant; Necrozma, an all powerful Ultra Beast who threatens to steal the light from the world itself. To counteract this world ending threat, governments from different regions have formed the Pokemon Association: a body consisting of the most famous, powerful, and even notorious trainers around the world with the mission of stopping Necrozma, no matter the cost.

Delegates will be tasked with taking on the role of popular heroes, trainers, gym leaders, and even villains within the world of Pokemon who will work together to end the threat once and for all. However, with how different the ideologies of some people within the association seem to be, will the delegates be able to stop Necrozma? Or will they instead choose to gain power with their own personal benefit in mind? The entirety of the world's regions are in your hands.

This committee will require delegates to write crisis notes intermittently throughout the conference weekend.

Aside from MUN, Andres was born and raised here in Miami, and frequently finds himself enjoying hobbies like fishing, free diving, writing, and playing Pokemon. He is excited to provide you with the best FIMUN experience, as well as seeing how delegates will tackle the challenges placed by him within the Pokemon committee!

Chair: Daniel Rivero

As a first-year honors student pursuing a degree in English, Daniel’s got that unmistakable, juvenile itch for new experiences. Whilst still learning how to juggle academics, a newfound social life, and myriad fresh opportunities, Daniel has turned to Model UN and has fully taken it upon himself to excel both as a delegate and future Chair for FIMUN 38! Despite grappling with the uncertainties of the times to come, Daniel has set his heart to break the molds of convention and fight for a better world, whether that’s through creative or diplomatic means. A generalist at heart, he prides himself with not only being a longtime gamer (and avid Pokémon fan), but also a bassist, fiction writer, photographer, skater and mixed-media artist. He’s extremely excited to witness delegates traverse through both the adversities and dynamics that Ultra-Wormholes and the Pokémon World itself will bring to the table.
